If Air Force loses this game, the Falcons will look back in disgust at several miscues and missed opportunities in the first half.
The game is tied, 3-3, after a first half in which Air Force held the ball for 19:30 of the first half and ran 44 plays to Utah’s 31.
Among the first-half errors:
-Kicker Ryan Harrison missed a 48-yard attempt with less than a minute left in the half.
-After Garrett Rybak’s interception gave Air Force the ball at the Utah 48-yard line late in the first quarter, Air Force lost 6 yards and punted. A penalty for an illegal chop block negated a big gain that would have given Air Force a first down deep in Utah territory.
-The Falcons turned the ball over at midfield when quarterback Shaun Carney, on an option right, appeared to pitch the ball to the wrong back. Carney pitched it to Savier Stephens, and the ball bounced off Stephens’ facemask and was recovered by Utah. Chad Hall was a step behind Stephens and looked like he should have been the player to receive the pitch.

WOW - what a game. I listened to it on the radio and I'm impressed. Even though there were a few big issues with the offense and the defense, overall I was happy with the way the Falcons played. If they can do that again Thursday against TCU, we might have a shot.

What a great game! The Falcons (on both sides) kept their composure through some pretty tough circumstances. The defense stopping the Utes on the 1 yd line (twice) was superb! I think the defense has made a great beginning to the season. This next month will be tough, but I believe the Falcons will be even tougher!
Norm the BlogDog did a great job predicting the outcome today! When Utah was on the 1 yd line at the end of the game, I was concerned that maybe Norm really had predicted how close this game would be. I'm glad to say that the Falcons demonstrated that oftentimes it's mind over matter. Their mental toughness today really showed!
